A Peaceful Adventure at Landmark

Updated: Oct 22

Hello,

Recently I took a trip to Landmark Adventure Park in Carrbridge.

I arrived in the late afternoon, hoping to capture some beautiful light. Having an annual pass is handy because I can drop by frequently.

Immediately after arriving, I grabbed a coffee, and then headed off with the hopes of spotting some red squirrels on the ancient forest trail, situated at the heart of the park.

It wasn't very long before I saw a one, it was confidently demonstrating some epic parkour skills in the canopy above. These guys know how cool they look when they're leaping around like ninjas.

I chilled out on the boardwalk, observing another squirrel as it spent an eternity chomping away at a bird feeder.

Check out the cheeky expression on this adorable little one...

I spent another half an hour or so, patiently waiting for an opportunity to capture something a bit more creative.

The sun was setting, and casting areas of beautiful light though the forest. I paid close attention to where the light was falling and hoped that luck would be on my side.

Suddenly a squirrel ran up a tree, and I fired some frames, tracking it's movements to the best of my ability.

A quick glance at the sequence left me unimpressed with my efforts because it can be difficult to tell if the images are in focus by looking at the back of the camera.

It wasn't until I showed the images (on the camera screen) to my partner, that one picture in particular stood out. She has a keen eye for art, and spotted a frame in my sequence that may have something to it...

"Lightfoot"

I loaded it up on the PC and was pretty delighted to have captured this picture. The pose, spotlight and bright background make me happy.

Landmark is beautiful place to go, it's an adventure park filled with attractions, my favourite being the dinosaurs - remember to stay really still should the T Rex look your way before it's been fed.

The forest walk is lovely, the squirrels may or may not be there when we visit, but the opportunity to achieve unique images, in a variety of scenes and lighting conditions makes it worth a trip.
